Navajo County Attorney’s Office
Bad Check Program
Help Us Stop Bad Checks!
Writing bad checks is a crime. Help us stop it by reporting bad checks. We will
go to work to recover your money at no cost to you. The person who wrote the bad
check will have to pay a fine to the County Attorney's Office and a victim's fee,
as well as make good the amount of the check. These penalties, together with the
potential criminal sanctions (fine of up to $2,500 and/or up to six months in jail),
usually convince people not to write bad checks in the future.
