Navajo County Attorney’s Office
Misdemeanor Unit
The Misdemeanor Unit is responsible for prosecuting misdemeanor offenses committed
by adults in Navajo County and those juvenile offenses that the Justice Courts have
authority to hear. A misdemeanor is a crime for which a defendant may be sentenced
to a term of incarceration in the County jail for six months or less. This includes
criminal traffic violations, driving under the influence (DUI), underage drinking,
disorderly conduct, code violations and dozens of other crimes.
Misdemeanors differ from felonies in that local law enforcement officers can directly
file with the Justice Court citations for misdemeanor charges.
