Mission Statement

The Navajo and Apache Counties Workforce Investment Board will work to facilitate business retention and growth by partnering with education, service agencies and the business community to empower individuals with skills that promote self-sufficiency.

 

Department Description

Workforce Investment Act administers and implements Department of Labor funded Workforce Investment grants for citizens of Navajo and Apache Counties that reside off tribal lands. The grant funding has four primary focus areas: Youth, Adult, Dislocated Worker, and Administration. Approved program costs for this employment and training program include education and training expenses as well as supportive services to assist participants in the elimination of barriers to their efforts in becoming self -sufficient. We make a difference by:

  • Partnering with local educational entities and responding to the changing training needs for the work environment.
  • Training individuals to take charge of their career success.
  • Providing employers with quality employees.

 

Typical Intensive and Training Services are as follows:

Assessments Life Skills Training
Remedial Education GED Training
Job-Specific Skills Training Career Counseling
Job search Assistance On-The-Job Training
Work Experience Supportive Services
Case Management Testing

 

Core Services - Including job search assistance, labor market information, resume development and access to the internet, telephone and copy machine for job applications are available. Intensive and Training services are available to income eligible applicants. Those applicants who would be considered a Priority for Service would be: Veterans and their spouses, Displaced homemakers, individuals over the age of 55, recipients of public assistance, the homeless, disabled, high school drop outs, individuals who have criminal backgrounds, and those who are basic skills deficient.
