NCSO Recovers $736,000 Worth of Drugs on I-40

Holbrook, AZ - On December 19, 2016, the Navajo County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Enforcement Unit (TEU) located and recovered two separate drug shipments traveling across Interstate 40 in
Navajo County.

The first shipment of recovered drugs was 84 pounds of hydroponic marijuana. Two females were arrested as a result of this investigation. The suspects were identified as Kiu Chan and Theresa Chan from Sacramento, California.

The marijuana has a street value of $336,000. Kiu Chan admitted she was transporting the marijuana around on a sightseeing trip and it was just for her personal use marijuana. We
believe this statement may not be completely accurate.

Both of the females were booked into the Navajo County Jail for Transportation of marijuana and Possession of marijuana for sale.

The second arrest occurred about an hour later when the TEU located approximately 8.8 pounds of cocaine inside the trunk of a vehicle.

Cruz Margo from Rio Rancho, New Mexico was arrested and booked into the Navajo County Jail for Transportation and Possession of a Narcotic Drug for Sale.

“What a great job by our Traffic Enforcement Unit to locate and arrest these suspects so they could no longer transport drugs through Navajo County,” Navajo County Sheriff K.C. Clark said.

The street value on this cocaine seizure is approximately $400,000.

The Navajo County TEU is comprised of four individuals. One Sergeant and three deputies (one of which is a reserve deputy donating his time) who are fully committed to making Navajo County a safer place to live, work and play.
