Navajo County Animal Care and Control
Licensing
ARS 11-1008 A. The Board of Supervisors of each county may set a license
fee which shall be paid for each dog three months of age or over that is kept, harbored
or maintained within the boundaries of the state for at least thirty consecutive
days of each calendar year.
Do I Need a License?
If you live in an incorporated area of the county (cities/towns) you DO NOT need
a county license. Check with your city/town for their license requirements. If you
live in the unincorporated portion of the county on non-tribal lands your pets DO need to have a county
license.
What are the Fees?
Here are the new Navajo County Animal Control Program Fees adopted on December 28, 2010 which are subject
to change upon the approval of the Board of Supervisors.
- Impound Fee - $50 per occurrence. Payable to the municipal shelter at the time the animal is picked up at the shelter.
- Daily Impound Maintenance Fee - $10 per day. Payable to the municipal shelter at the time the animal is picked up at the shelter.
- License fee is now $5 per animal for the duration of the license period when obtained from your veterinarian, animal clinic, animal shelter or county office. License is free when obtained via the Internet web application process.
- Term of the license – Licenses run concurrently with the rabies vaccination. All licenses expire on the expiration date of the current valid rabies vaccination certificate.
