Special Services Consortium
The mission of the Navajo County Special Services Consortium is to provide Related
Services to the exceptional children in Navajo and Apache Counties. The Consortium
was formed in 1988 and has grown each year.
The Consortium serves thirty school districts members in Navajo and Apache counties
in Northeastern Arizona. At present the Consortium employees approximately 40 therapists
- 20 of who are Speech-Language Pathologists. The remainders are Occupational Therapists,
Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants, Physical Therapists and School Psychologists.
The services provided may consist of three types of therapy: A. Evaluations; B.
50% Evaluations/50%Services; C. Direct Services.
The categories of the children range from Learning Disabled to Multiple Disabled.
The age of the children range from preschool to 21 years old. However, the majorities
have been from preschool to 8th grade.
Specialist may work with several different schools depending on the need for services
at each school. The normal working hours are 8:30AM to 4:00PM. Personnel working
for the Navajo County Special Services Consortium have a 185 working day contract.
