2010 Navajo County Spelling Bee
2010’s champion is Andy Powell, a 6th grade student from Snowflake USD #5. The runner-up
is Maryam Jawid, a 5th grade student from Blue Ridge USD #32. Third Place went to
Shynell Begay, a 8th grade student from Hopi Jr./Sr. High School.

Andy will advance to the Tempe, AZ along with 26 other state finalists to determine
who will represent Arizona in the National Spelling Bee held in Washington D.C.,
June 2-4, 2010. The sponsor of this year’s Arizona Spelling Bee is US Airways. With
additional support from KAET Channel 8 and Safeway.
