Property Tax Calendar

On this page are times and events that are pertinent to property tax events in Navajo County.

SeptemberThe current year tax bills are mailed to the owner of record when the tax roll was finalized in August. It is important to notify the Treasurer or the Assessor if you have a change of address, or new email, to ensure prompt delivery of the tax statement. Tax notices are not forwarded. Please note that the Treasurer is not required to send a tax bill; the notice is mailed as a courtesy to taxpayers. Mortgage companies will contact the Treasurer to obtain the information required for processing a payment. Only one original tax bill is mailed each year.
OctoberThe first half taxes are payable on the first day of October. Taxpayers will not be penalized if the payment carries a postmark on or before November 1st. Failure to receive a tax statement is not a legal reason for waiving interest. 
NovemberThe first half taxes become delinquent if not paid by 5:00 pm on November 1st of each year. Taxpayers will not be penalized if the payment carries a postmark of November 1st. Each taxpayer is responsible for paying the taxes due. Penalty for late payment is an annual 16% prorated monthly as of the first day of the month in accordance with ARS §42-18053. Interest cannot be waived for any reason other than those prescribed by statute. 
DecemberTaxes under $100 and full-year property tax payments may be paid in full by December 31st without interest or penalty. Taxpayers will not be penalized if the payment carries a postmark of December 31st. (Please Note: Full-year taxes paid after 5:00 pm December 31st will incur interest from November 1st on the delinquent first half.)

A delinquent notice will be mailed in early December for the prior year taxes that remain unpaid. Property owners are notified that property with delinquent taxes will be offered at a tax lien sale if unpaid. It is important to notify the Assessor if you have a change of address to ensure prompt delivery of any delinquent tax notice.
JanuaryThe date is set for the online tax lien sale to be held in February. A list of prior year delinquent tax properties to be included in the online tax lien sale will be published in the county's paper of record for the required amount of time. Advertising begins in January.
FebruaryThe online tax lien sale will occur on the second Wednesday of February. Potential bidders must be registered prior to the sale in order to bid on tax liens.
MarchThe second half taxes are payable on the first day of March.
MayThe second half taxes become delinquent if not paid by 5:00 pm on May 1st. Taxpayers will not be penalized if the payment carries a postmark of May 1st. A delinquent notice will be mailed for the second half and prior year taxes that remain unpaid.
JuneSubsequent taxes are payable for existing tax liens from June 1 through December 31.
AugustNavajo County Board of Supervisors approve tax rates and levies for the current tax year.
