Sexually Transmitted Diseases

Information, testing, and treatment are available at the Show Low offices by appointment. Please plan at least an hour for your visit. Parental consent is not required for sexually-transmitted disease (STD) and HIV testing for minors who are 14 years of age or older.

HIV / AIDS Prevention & Control

We provide HIV counseling and testing (anonymous and confidential) and offer education services to all communities in Navajo County. We also provide individual-level interventions, peer counseling, health education classes and community-level interventions. All Navajo County residents are eligible for services at no charge. HIV Outpatient Services (Ryan White Title II)

These funds are available for Navajo County residents who are infected with HIV/AIDS. The services include medical, dental, case management, counseling, and emergency assistance. A consortium of citizens from Navajo, Yavapai, Coconino, Apache, and the Navajo Nation meets quarterly to address the needs of their respective populations and decide what services will be provided. We work closely with the state Health Department and the Arizona Drug Assistance program to ensure that clients receive their HIV medications. For further information please contact an area public health nurse for a referral to our case manager out of Flagstaff.

Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) Clinic

STD Clinic is offered by appointment. The goal of the program is to reduce the spread of all STD with priority given to gonorrhea, syphilis, and chlamydia. The program primarily relates to case-finding and case prevention. All cases and contact of clients are followed-up for evidence of treatment. Prevention remains the target. Education is emphasized by providing individual and group instruction. Call one of the district offices for an appointment:

HIV / AIDS screening and counseling is a service offered by appointment. Clients are screened and counseled regarding HIV transmission and prevention. All information is kept confidential. Call one of our locations nearest you for an appointment.

Arizona Department of Health

Arizona laws govern the control of communicable, environmental, and occupational diseases dangerous to the public health. Following Arizona Department of Health (ADHS) guidelines and criteria, reportable communicable diseases are followed to prevent the spread of the disease and to determine the prevalence of the disease.
